The Qualifying for Disability of Epilepsy in South Korea
Cho Yong-Won

Kim Keun-Tae
Abstract
In 2019, the Act on the Registration of Persons with Disabilities in South Korea was amended. However, there are several problems related to the confirmation of disability in patients with medically intractable epilepsy, and only a few patients have been registered. The revised regulations on the disability aim for customized welfare; however, patients with medically intractable epilepsy have disadvantages in confirmation of epilepsy as a disability and estimation of the degree of disability. Epilepsy disorders should be judged based on medical records in which the type and frequency of the seizures, as well as the treatment, are presented in detail. For patients with medically intractable epilepsy who should qualify for disability status, a solid medical record maintained by the doctor in charge is of paramount importance.
